Elle’s Avian Essentials kits contain everything you need to set up your bird’s cage for an enriched, healthy life. The small bird kit is perfect for small parrots like budgies, lovebirds, parrotlets, linnies, Bourke’s parakeets and other petite-sized parrots.

Anywhere else in the world: USPS Express International (EMS) $125 to most countries. Average delivery 10 to 20 days anywhere in the world.

Non-express options, while less expensive, have become unreliable since the pandemic and associated shipping disruptions. Australian and New Zealand customers:We are now able to ship modified kits to Australia and New Zealand. Due to customs regulations prohibiting importation of some natural wood products with bark such as our natural wood perches and some of the toys containing natural wood, we replace some of the items in regular kits listed on the website with replacements.

Birds spend most of the time on their feet, so finding the right perches is critical to a parrot’s well-being. Perches that are made from natural wood offer irregular surface areas and variable thickness along the length of the branch, which is necessary to help your bird maintain optimal foot health. Natural wood perches are both durable and easy to clean.

Stainless Steel Bowls with Holders

The kit offers three stainless steel bowls – one for water, a second for pellets and seeds, and the third for moist foods like cooked grains, fruits and vegetables. Stainless steel is much more sanitary than plastic containers, which typically come with cages but can harbor bacteria. The bowls are 10 oz and come with their own ring for hanging on the horizontal bars in bird cages.

Ladders

Each kit is equipped with two types of ladders. Ladders are important for encouraging your birds to climb and more fully utilize their cage space.

Toys

This kit is designed to provide your bird with a large variety of toys. Toys are essential for any parrot’s wellbeing, as parrots are built to chew, shred, and forage. Toys keep birds’ intelligent minds occupied and give them activities to do when you can’t be there with them. Without enough toys to keep them stimulated, many birds resort to chewing things that aren’t appropriate, like your new couch. In the kit you’ll find toys of all different shapes, sizes, and materials to offer maximum enrichment.

I have extensive personal experience trying out different bird toy types and brands. Let’s just call it a hobby of mine. The toys included in this kit have been carefully selected based on my own bird’s preferences. They are proven favorites.

Two multi-branch sandblasted manzanita wood perches

Each kit includes two multi-branch sandblasted manzanita perches. Manzanita wood is perfect for bird perches due to its hardness, which makes it very long lasting. The sandblasting gives the perch a coarse surface texture. These perches measure approximately 12 to 14 inches long.

Two dragonwood perches

Dragonwood perches offer comfort and roosting stability. The irregular, textured hardwood surface is easy-to-grip, exercises legs and feet, and strengthens muscles. The perches are 12 to 16 inches long.

Two single-branch manzanita perches

The kit includes two single-branch manzanita wood perches. The perches are around 12 inches long.

Rattan wood perch

The kit includes a rattan wood perch. Birds love the coarse texture of these perches. Easy to clean with a long lasting hard core, each perch has a comfortable textured grip that a bird will easily grasp. Great way to give a bird an extra place to sit or sleep.

Platform perch

Flat platform perches give your bird’s feet a place to rest, which is important as birds spend almost all their time gripping onto a perch. The kit includes a comfortable and visually beautiful manzanita burl platform perch that provides a place for your bird to relax. The perch measures about 6 inches.

Rope boing / bungee

 This springy coiled rope offers your bird a place to perch, climb, and swing. The soft rope is very comfy for birds’ feet and many birds choose rope perches as their preferred place to sleep. Hang it inside the cage or out and it might just become your bird’s all-time favorite spot!  The boing is ½ inch in diameter with a length of 52 inches when fully extended.  It has a bell at the bottom. 

Note: this boing is made of cotton rope, which isn’t safe for birds to chew. If you notice the rope is fraying or find your bird chewing on it, it’s best to place the boing outside your bird’s cage so you can supervise your bird while using it.

Natural rope ladder

The rope ladder measures 17 inches long. It can be hung at any angle, including horizontally across the cage to act like a walking bridge. The steps are wooden and the connections are made of natural sisal rope which is safe for birds to chew.

Wooden ladder

The second ladder included is wooden and can be placed against the side of the cage so your parrot can easily access the bottom of the cage for more play area. You can also rest this ladder on a platform perch while leaned on the side of the cage.   The 9-rung ladder is approximately 14 inches long.

Cuttlebone

The kit comes with one cuttlebone equipped with a metal attachment to hang it on the cage bars. A cuttlebone provides your bird with an extra source of calcium and helps keep their beak trimmed.

Planet Pleasures small octopus pinata

Colorful hanging toy made of palm leaves. Birds just adore tugging on the tentacles and tassels. It’s one of those toys that I’ve had to replace multiple times over. This toy measures 9 inches x 4 1/2 inches.

A&E Happy Beaks Jumping Jacks

Shredable paper fingers are stuffed with vibrant crinkle paper, and are threaded thru colorful bagel tubes with star beads and palm flowers. Your birds will enjoy all of the crunching and paper pulling opportunities presented by the pinwheel toy. This toy is also great for foraging - the finger traps are perfect for stuffing treats. The toy’s diameter is about 6 inches.

A&E Happy Beaks vine mat

No cage set up is complete without wall decor.  The A&E activity wall features a 7 inch x 7 inch seagrass mat, with vine balls, wooden coils and other attachments. The wall can be hung on the side of the cage and will provide your bird with a range of shredding, pulling, and foraging opportunities.

Westco Pet original bird kabob 

Bluebell and Violet insist this shreddable toy is a must-have for any bird!  Made of soft yucca wood, the toy keeps birds busy for hours while they work on pulverizing the wood slices to tiny bits. Get your brooms ready.

Pine wood shreddable toy

Another shreddable toy made of soft pine wood, perfect for small beaks. This one features colored pieces to entice your bird. This toy measures 10 1/2 inches.

Super Bird Creations mini paper party

 A combination toy and platform perch, the Paper Party is made from a sturdy wooden block with lollipop sticks coming out of it. This is a perfect toy to put on the outside of your bird’s cage, as it gives them a compact spot to hang out and chew. It attaches to cage bars like a regular perch. The firm lollipop sticks support your bird while inviting them to satisfy their chewing needs, while the wooden block gives your bird another place to rest their feet. This toy measures 4 inches.

Bonka Bird Toys paper shred

This toy is made of a winning combination of finger traps, crinkle paper, and honeycomb paper.  It offers the most satisfying crunching sounds as well as a variety of textures. The dimensions are approximately 9 inches x 8 inches.

Super Bird Creations basket case

Basket toys are the ultimate shredding and foraging experience for your bird. Treats can be stuffed between the holes of the basket and hidden within the crinkle paper for birds to dig out. Birds also love chewing the basket material itself and the vine star adds even more shredding fun. Approximate dimensions are 10 inches x 7 inches x 5 inches.

Planet Pleasure woven ball

Lightweight, colorful woven balls that birds just love to throw around, chase after and shred to pieces. You can teach your bird to fetch – or your bird might teach YOU to fetch their balls for them as they repeatedly throw them off the top of their cage!

Seagrass hammock suspended by colorful chains, with the added fun of plastic beads, and a porcupine ball. An all-in-one swing, toy, and platform. The Flying Trapeze is a favorite retreat of many birds – until they destroy the seagrass mat! The dimensions are roughly 8 inches x 9 inches x 6 inches.

Budgies love to shake, rattle and bop with this adorable toy.  It is made of acrylic balls, binkies, bear charms, heart beads and a shiny bell.  Pearl even talks to it! It measures about 7 ½ inches long.
